New Year's Eve Smokey Eye

Hello loves! I hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends! Ours was so great and relaxing; I wish we could have stayed longer! Now, of course, New Year's Eve is here! My boyfriend and I are not going out dancing all night to celebrate; instead we are going out for a nice dinner and then coming home and sharing a bottle of champagne while watching movies. I am really looking forward to our NYE/date night :-)

However, it's still fun to feel festive and NYE is the perfect time to embrace it! I created a fun, smokey black and gold eye look that is perfect for ringing in the new year. Unfortunately I do not have a good camera to actually record a tutorial (I plan on buying one though!) so I have pictures showing step-by-step how I created this look along with all the products used! I hope you find this look as fun and sexy as I do!

So here is the before! All I have done is my foundation and eyebrows. Since I am using very smokey colors, I wanted to wait to do my under-eye concealer in case there was any fall out. That way I didn't make a big mess!

I am going to be using my Naked 3 palette because I think it has great, blend-able colors for a shimmery, yet smokey eye!

Here, below, I have blended BURNOUT on the outer corner and crease of my eye. This is a soft pink that will be a great blending base for the rest of our smokey eye.

Next, I've blended MUGSHOT over the BURNOUT to deepen the crease.

I then used a bit of FACTORY (seen above) just on the outer corner to deepen the shadow. Then I used TRICK (seen below) all over the crease and the lid.

(You can see this palette has gotten a lot of love! I've had it over a year now...)

Next, I took BLACKHEART (seen in above picture, located at the very end of the palette) and packed it all over my lid. This is a beautiful dark, almost black, color with flakes of rose gold shimmer. So gorgeous!

After packing on the BLACKHEART I went back with a little bit of FACTORY to blend everything together. I then created a very dramatic wing with a black felt-tip liner. I wanted to do a dramatic wing but you certainly don't have to! A more simple winged liner or even a smokey-liner (created by using a pencil liner and then blending the color up) would look great too!

I took some of the FACTORY and TRICK along my bottom lash line and blended it out. I then took STILETTO from the Too Faced Naked Eye palette and lined the outer half of my bottom lash line. I also took a mix of FRESH LINEN and VELVETEEN BUNNY from the Too Faced Matte Eye palette and highlighted the inner corner of my eye and under my brow bone. Afterwards, I did my under-eye concealer:

I used some Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara and viola! The final product!

Here is the list of products I used to achieve this whole look:

They no longer carry this exact palette so I've linked to the newer version and although it does not have the exact shade I used, you can use any dark black for the lower lash line.

I hope y'all have a wonderfully fun and safe NYE! Happy New Year!

Last Minute Stocking Stuffer Ideas

Good Morning loves! I hope you have been having a great week so far! I cannot, I repeat: I CANNOT, believe Christmas is a week away. It feels like I just got over my Thanksgiving food coma and now I need to prepare myself for the next one. I am very excited though!

Christmas is a very special time for my family. We are Irish-Italian and on Christmas Eve we have a traditional Italian feast which includes seven fish-related dishes. It isn't your typical Christmas ham dinner (not to put any ham to shame, I love a good honey baked ham!) but it is delicious! Everyone makes one or two of the dishes and for the past five years I have been in charge of the baked clams. I am even traveling back to New Mexico a day earlier than my boyfriend to make sure I have enough time to make my dish! That's dedication if you ask me! What are some special traditions that you have with your family? Do share!

Now that we've processed that Christmas is only a week away, let's think about our Christmas list. This year, more than any year in the past, I've been pretty obsessed with stocking stuffers. Every time we go out I point out one or two items to my boyfriend declaring "Oh, that would be a cute stocking stuffer!" I think I even told him at one point to just get me a few stocking stuffers instead of an actual gift (haha)! So, I have compiled a list of some simple, yet thoughtful, stocking stuffer ideas. As we all know, there's always one or two last minute gifts that we need so I hope this helps!

Stocking Stuffers for Her

Lip Products
This idea may sound tired but I don't think there's such a thing as having too many lip products (maybe there is but I prefer to think not, haha). If the person you are purchasing for is a beauty addict, then I think a pretty, versatile lip product is always a nice treat! Whether it is gloss, a lipstick, or a nice balm, I think this is almost a sure-fire way to put a smile on someone's face! Hopefully you know what shades they like before purchasing one, but if not, take extra notice these next few days. Does she usually wear pink or red? Glossy or matte? Talk to one of the associates at Sephora or MAC and I'm sure they'll help you find a perfect shade! If you know she shops at MAC regularly, then have them look up her past purchases to see what shades she has bought in the past! I know my boyfriend has come quite close to using this method!

Lotions
Again, this may seem like a cliche idea, but spending a few extra bucks for a nice, luxurious-feeling body lotion will make her feel special! I love Philosophy from Sephora as well as some of the body butters from The Body Shop. I think these "typical" stocking stuffer ideas can be boring but for the beauty addict in your life, I believe they would be just as thrilled as I would to receive these. If you know what scents the person likes, that's a major help. However, if you don't know, I would recommend going for the most neutral scent you can find; nothing too floral or sweet. The Amazing Grace line from Philosophy has a clean, lightly sweet scent that I think most people would find appealing. Plus it is super hydrating!

Fragrance Rollerballs
Now, perfume can be expensive. A full size of perfume, I believe, is a whole gift on its own. However, if you know the person's favorite scent, or one they've been wanting to try, then I think this is a great idea! I love having a rollerball to keep in my purse. It's always a way I can try new scents without fully committing as well. I have linked to the rollerballs at Sephora as well as the "Sephora Favorites Perfume Sampler." I love this idea for a gift too! It has fourteen perfume samples as well as a voucher for a full size perfume! So your loved one can go get a full sized bottle of perfume (must be one that was included in the samples) for no extra charge! (PS - they also have one for men's cologne and I may have picked one up for my boyfriend...Link Here

Nail Sets
I love getting manicures but realistically I often do my own nails at home. Many women I know are the same way! So I think treating her to a few new polishes or a set is a special stocking stuffer. I personally like Essie the most and they've got some cute sets for Christmas! If you are unsure about colors or brands then maybe a gift card to get a manicure would be a good alternative! I'm not typically one for gift cards but for some speciality items, like a manicure or massage, I make an exception. If you know she doesn't like going out to get her nails done (some women prefer to do it themselves) then I think either some polish or a good cuticle cream is a thoughtful stocking stuffer!

Stocking Stuffers for Him

Beard/Shaving Products
So, beards have been becoming more and more popular! I finally convinced my boyfriend to grow his out a little! I think that treating him to some nice shaving products or beard conditioner that he wouldn't typically buy for himself is a sweet idea. The main reason my boyfriend was so hesitant to grow his beard out was because he found it was too itchy. So, I purchased the Jack Black Beard Lube from Sephora (we'll see how he likes it, I'll update y'all!) I know the name is a bit silly but this product is suppose to soften both the "whiskers" and skin under the beard. Plus it can also be used as a shaving cream itself, so it's pretty versatile!

Scarf/Gloves
I think that most men (and women, really) would appreciate a nice, well-made scarf and/or pair of gloves, especially if you live in a colder area! Last year my boyfriend bought a cheap pair of gloves and they had holes in them not 2 hours later! So this year I know he was thrilled when we bought him a nicer pair. (And if you're wondering why we need gloves in Phoenix, we don't; it's because Albuquerque is very cold when we visit!) Even if he is not very fashion-forward (as most men aren't) I don't think you can go wrong with a stylish scarf or pair of gloves!

Grilling Accessories
I know not all, but most, men like to grill in the warm weather. I'm sure that there are some men that will grill even in the cool weather! I think some meat rubs or fancy BBQ sauce are fun stocking stuffers for men. Try getting him a flavor he wouldn't typically go for or just one that you know is his absolute favorite! I think if he's really into grilling then this will be a nice encouragement for him. My boyfriend's brother-in-law really likes to grill so we got him some of the meat rubs from Williams Sonoma and they smell amazing! I am thinking of purchasing some for us down the road to try out too!

Snacks
Candy and popcorn may be overdone but if he's got a sweet tooth then I'm sure he will be thrilled! Some fancier chocolates or caramel corn is always a delicious way to bring a smile to his face! You can even make it more special by making his favorite treat for him! If you know he loves a certain sweet then head on over to Pinterest and get crafty! Or, if you are pressed for time (or hate baking) then I've linked some sweet treats below!

Well I hope this has been helpful to y'all! I am going to try and post again before Christmas but if I don't then MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope whether you are celebrating the holiday or not, you have a wonderful season full of cheer! Let me know what Santa dropped off at your house this year! ;)

Pre-Holiday Beauty Haul!

Happy Wednesday loves! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving filled with yummy food and many blessings! My boyfriend and I traveled back to New Mexico to spend the holiday with our families and we most definitely had food comas.. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

While I was in town I had some fun shopping with my mom and I picked up some beauty products that I wanted to share with y'all! I am very excited about these finds! I have only been using them for about a week now but I can give you a quick "first impression" of each item. Enjoy!

Beauty Blender
I have fallen in love with this little guy so quickly! I have been using either my fingers or a disposable make-up sponge to apply my foundation up until now. I've wanted to try the Beauty Blender for a long time now and everyone seems to rave about it. Now I know why! The blender really sheers out my foundation so that I don't end up with cake face but it still applies with a full coverage. It really has been the best of both worlds! When I was checking out, I had enough points to get a 100 point perk and there was a sample of the Beauty Blender cleaner so I grabbed that! How perfect! I would recommend getting a cleaner along with your blender if you don't already have one because the product does seem to build up quickly in the sponge and a clean blender will better distribute your foundation!

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Granache
This color would typically be a little out of my comfort zone, however, I saw it and just fell in love! It's a beautiful purple-ish pink (I believe it's described as a "cool pink.") I love pairing this lipstick with a bold winged liner. Bite Beauty is my absolute favorite for lip products and they haven't disappointed me so far! This lipstick is so creamy and stays put! I paired it with one of my new lip liners (coming up) and it lasted about 6 hours (through many Starbucks cups)!

Sephora Nano Lip Liners
I bought two lip liners (the first two I've ever had, honestly) from the Sephora line. I am not typically a huge fan of this line, however, I figured for my first time testing out liners (and at $5 a piece) it wouldn't hurt. I picked up one in "Lovely Lilac" which is a plum color. This color works beautifully with another deep purple lipstick I own from Covergirl. I think with the darker lipsticks, a liner is a must! I have been loving the darker mauves and purples for fall and winter this year so I know I will get a lot of use out of this liner! The other color I got is "Queen Quartz" which is more of a pinky-nude. I have soooo many pink and nude lipsticks that it was a no-brainer that this one would get a lot of love! I like using this liner with the Bite lipstick in "Granache" because the plum liner is a bit too purple for that one so I went lighter with my liner. So far, I've been enjoying both liners and their formulas (nice and creamy) so I am excited to broaden my horizons and get some more lip liners!

MAC Matte in Pink Plaid
I don't typically go for matte lipsticks but this is just the prettiest pink! I like to add my Covergirl gloss (coming up) on top for some shimmer and it's just perfect! I don't think I'll ever have enough pink lipsticks so I was happy to add this one to my collection. Even for a matte finish, it goes on smoothly and is light enough that it doesn't look cakey or dry. I think this lipstick will be a great go-to all year long since it's so versatile!

Covergirl Colorlicious in Honeyed Kiss
I wanted a nice, neutral lipgloss that I could layer on lipsticks so give my lips and extra glow. I found this beauty at Target (bonus: it was only like $6)! It is beautiful on its own or on top of a lipstick. I especially like pairing this with my MAC Pink Plaid (as I previously mentioned). The gloss is a nude shade with a light shimmer. It's perfect for the holiday season to give that extra pop and glow to your lips! It's not tacky or sticky and lasts longer than any gloss I've used in the past. There are many shades in this gloss and I'm very tempted to go grab a few more!

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Primer
This is the first "drug store" primer I've ever used. And so far, it's a winner! I've been using this one for about a week now and so far I haven't broken out or had any weird skin issues. This primer definitely smoothes out my skin before I apply my foundation and I notice that my make-up lasts longer without looking muddy. I used my foundation for about two weeks without a primer and I couldn't handle it any longer! I missed having an extra layer between my foundation and my skin. I tend to have an oily T-zone and drier skin around my chin but this primer works with both areas. I haven't noticed any oil build up or flaking with my foundation since using this primer. It may be too early to speak, but I am loving this! I hope it continues to wow because it is a fraction of the price of my previous primers!

EOS Lip Balm
I will never buy another lip balm ever! I have used EOS lip balms for over a year now and they are absolutely my favorite! I chose Sweet Mint this time because I thought the smell was perfect for the holiday/winter season. This isn't a super exciting purchase but it was definitely a necessity! My lips are always in need of some extra care so a moisturizing lip balm is a must for me. The cute packaging for EOS is just a plus! SO CUTE!

Well there ya have it! My (somewhat little) haul from my trip back home for Thanksgiving! What recent beauty products have you recently picked up? Or are adding to your wish list? Let me know!
